Austin Wiehahn

BSc. (Physio) Adelaide, South Australia

MSc. (Sports & Musculoskeletal Physio), Adelaide

PgCert (Teaching & Learning in Higher Education)

Austin Wiehahn spcialises in dealing with sports injuries and workplace issues (e.g. repetitive strain injuries). He completed his thesis on pathologies affecting the Achilles Tendon – which is commonly affected in runners.

Since that time he has treated numerous sportsmen and women with this and other running injuries (shin splints, runners knee etc) that typically persist when trying to return to sport. These injuries are often – but not always – related to one's technique. Austin analyses running and cycling technique to highlight potential strains on the lower leg.

Besides sporting injuries Austin visits workplaces and provides guidance on how to reduce injuries within the workplace. Workplace injuries include conditions such as 'tennis elbow', carpal tunnel syndrome and lower back pain.

Austin lectures at Anglia Ruskin University on the Masters Pathway in Physiotherapy, where his roles include supporting research and delivering workshops to qualified physiotherapists.
